Television (an address)

This project addresses the medium of television by streaming "live," unscripted, commentaries by invited artists and critics, and presenting the outcome online, on local TV networks or as a video installation.

A guest is invited to sit in front of a television holding, in one hand, a live microphone, and in the other, a remote control to shift through the channels. Two web-cams capture the television monitor and the face of the guest. The streams are simultaneously transmitted live to local television networks, an online audience, gallery spaces and other institutions where they are presented as a video installation. Two video streams are projected and installed in such a way that the two projected images - talking head and television - are facing each other as they did in the original space. The project isolates the medium of streaming as a tool to address the medium of television. It is a strategy to resist the discourse of the media, through the participation of multiple voices and the paradoxical "transmission of a transmission".
